How to check if a role is eligible for visa sponsorship UK

One of the biggest mistakes I still see internationals make is applying to jobs that are ineligible for visa sponsorship – and I'm not talking about roles at companies without a sponsorship licence.

In July 2025, the UK government removed more than 100 roles from the list of occupations eligible for sponsorship for new applicants.

This means that many roles commonly targeted by new graduates, such as

• Customer Service Managers
• Sales Administrators
• Finance Officers

and many more are no longer eligible for sponsorship even though they were in the past.

The worst part is that companies rarely mention this in job descriptions, meaning you may have already wasted valuable time applying to a role that cannot legally sponsor you.
