How to know what salary threshold you qualify for

If you're looking for a sponsored role in the UK in 2025, you need to know exactly what salary threshold you need to be eligible for sponsorship.

In July, the UK government introduced detailed eligibility criteria for the Skilled Worker visa, including 1,000+ salary thresholds.

I keep seeing people ask: 'Does my role qualify at £41,700, £33,400, or some other figure?'

Between SOC codes, PhDs, age brackets, and visa types, you could spend hours every day working it out for every single role.

I spent a day or two thoroughly studying all the thresholds and decided to make this easily available via the UK Visa Sponsorship Checker extension.

How it works:

  • Checks the SOC code of the job
  • Factors in when you got your first Skilled Worker visa
  • Accounts for your age
  • Considers your current visa type
  • Adjusts for PhD (STEM vs. non-STEM)
  • Covers postdoctoral positions in science and higher education

It then tells you:

  • The exact salary threshold you need for that role
  • The estimated salary for the role, so you know if it's realistic before applying

If you're looking for sponsorship, you shouldn't have to spend hours every week trying to figure out salary thresholds.

Applying for roles and preparing for interviews is already tough enough in this market.
